Welcome to the new "Community Spirit Awards" 2012

The annual Evening Courier Community and Environment Awards, are changing for a very special Diamond Jubilee event in 2012. This year the categories have been split to give our many charity and community projects across Calderdale their own individual awards. It’s a chance for individuals, charities, voluntary organisations and businesses who work to make life better for the people of Calderdale to enjoy their own place in the spotlight, their own night of recognition and reward. The awards are open to everyone from high profile organisations to individual unsung heroes that have made a difference to life in Calderdale. The awards will be a night to remember and a much-deserved showcase for the people who make Calderdale the caring, creative and conscientious place we all know and love.
Deadline for entries Friday May 25th 2012

A message from the Community Foundation for Calderdale

http://www.cffc.co.uk/
I am thrilled that the Lord Lieutenant of West Yorkshire will be the guest of honour at the new look Community Spirit Awards in celebration of the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee.
The Community Foundation and the Courier, and the main sponsors the Halifax, have refreshed several of the categories this year to reflect the charitable activity carried out by young people and schools, and to recognise those in our communities who give selflessly of their time and money.
Since the last awards I have invested time visiting local charitable organisations and meeting the generous people and companies who support them and clearly, if the applications we receive reflect what I have observed, the judges will have an impossible task selecting a shortlist in each category.
